We ring in Cancer season and the Summer Solstice on June 21, 2022. A week later, on the 28th, we have a new moon in Cancer. This lunation will be squaring Jupiter in Aries. When planets square each other, they are 90° apart. This causes tension and strain, but can be quite productive. Squares are about reconciliation. Cancer and Jupiter square each other because they’re both cardinal signs. This moon will be quite generative. It will bring us emotional expansiveness and remind us that freedom comes with knowledge. This new moon brings emotional growth; a chance to set your emotions free with the knowledge you’ve gleaned about them. Make time and space for your spiritual practice. Eat good food, make your favorite meal, or try cooking something new. Find a holy place for your emotions. Do you perceive them as holy? What do you need to shift in/externally to fully realize that holy place/space?
THE DECK
For these tarot messages, I used the Neo Tarot deck. Illustrated by Daiana Ruiz, its accompanying book was written by Jerico Mandybur. Neo Tarot fuzes illustrations of androgynous humans with card interpretations, affirmations, and self-care tips corresponding to their respective cards.
THE SPREAD
June’s tarot guidance comes in two parts: something for you to work towards/integrate this month, and something to celebrate the Solstice. Messages are grouped by astrological modality: Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable. Read the modality that corresponds to your sun sign (and moon sign if you feel called to). Go to astro.com or cafeastrology to generate your natal chart. CafeAstrology will give a beginner’s overview to interpreting your chart. I highly recommend consulting your local astrologer to get a natal chart reading done. Novaa Network has a great directory to search through!

Astrological Modalities
Cardinal: Cancer, Capricorn, Aries, Libra
Fixed: Leo, Aquarius, Scorpio, Taurus
Mutable: Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo, Pisces

Cardinal Signs
~ self-starters, initiators, visionaries, energetic and dynamic ~
5 of Pentacles & The Emperor
The 5 of Pentacles highlights scarcity you’re experiencing. An instability of sorts. Notice the people in the cards have their head in their hands (understandably so). But if they look up, they can see some pentacles (resources) they have access to. This card asks you to get a better hold on your health, finances, and resources. Go where you find stability, comfort, and safety. What may be a perceived lack can be found and obtained if you seek assistance. The Emperor didn’t get to where they are without rules and order or the help of others – especially in terms of his resources. The Emperor also wants you to celebrate the solstice by recognizing your hard work this month. Celebrate the structures and routines that keep you warm, alive, and impassioned. Celebrate your agency and power and take your throne. The spark of life is sacred: dance and fuck because that’s what the Emperor does. Consider how your presence can be a source/force of power. What are you willing to give up or renounce to truly have agency and confidence? The 5 of Pentacles is a forced humility. The Emperor, while prone to over-confidence or arrogance, is not exempt from self-reflection and humility, either.

Fixed Signs
~ reliable, determined, sustaining, resilient, resistant or hesitant to change ~
The Moon & Strength
This is a big month for emotional exploration and integration, and the new moon on the 28th is here to support and potentially provide some insights or breakthroughs. Reflect on where your emotions are stemming from. What’s creating ripples in your pool? Surrender to the moon and her mystery. Get creative. What messages are you receiving? Embrace not knowing for a second and let go of control (as a fellow double fixed sign, trust me I know this is easier said than done). The moon is asking questions and your internal monologue may be filled with riddles to solve in the night. Spend time with water. Ring in the solstice by celebrating all parts of yourself, particularly those that get vulnerable in the night. Be curious and compassionate about/towards your inner community, all parts of yourself, past and present. You’ve done a lot of hard integration work this month. It never ends, but damn it feels good. Be soft with parts of yourself that are resistant to progress. Honor your inner community and all they’ve done to get you here. Celebrate your relationship with yourself and others. We’re here today because of our inner world and the love and support of those around us.

Mutable
~ flexible, versatile, open to change ~
10 of Cups and The Star
What do you need to be truly fulfilled by your closest relationships and/or partnerships this month? A deepening of love and connection is asked of you. Confide in your partner, beloved, boo, platonic life partner. Healing happens in relationships. Our brains are wired to do so. Embrace your loved ones, hold each other after a difficult conversation, spontaneously, or just for fun. Trust them when they say they see you, trust them when their actions say “i love you”. There is much to learn in the arms of your lover. 10 of Cups wants you to feel the whirlwind of emotions that deep, supportive, sustainable connections bring. Celebrate your healing; the healing you’ve done with one another. There’s a big emphasis on connecting and working with water this month, so find a way to incorporate it into your rituals. Celebrate your progress in recognizing, feeling, and completing/letting go of laborious emotions. The Star brings us hope, so look to them for answers. Celebrate what hope you have left, the hope instilled by your loved ones. Celebrate the safety and connection you have with them. Give yourself and your loved ones grace. See yourself as the bright star they see you as. What do you need to fully embody and embrace that feeling?
