Fine Tunes: Wet Dream

Congratulations fam, we’ve been swimming through the shit storm together – laughing, crying, protesting, meditating, all while discovering new depths within ourselves and others. July kicks off the last half of this chaotic and historic year. As we sail into the midway month, drink up the lessons of the wise Mr. Lee.

“Don’t get set into one form,
adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water.

Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water.
Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup;
You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle;
You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot.
Now water can flow or it can crash.
Be water, my friend.”

– Bruce Lee

Who better to bring us this month’s water-themed playlist than the band Wet Dream? Their love for electronic and synthesized music brings our mind and body to a flow state while showcasing music from around the world and BIPOC artists. These artists move us with the raw emotion bursting through our headphones, and a rhythmic pulsing washes over us in cleansing and crushing tidal wave. It’s cathartic, really.

So grab your arm floaties, and get ready to flow.

Wet Dream was formed in the fall of 2016 after being unexpectedly presented with an opportunity to open for French disco provocateurs La Femme. With no music yet written and only two weeks until the show Qu, Dylan White, and Ben Johnson set out on a journey of audio/visual discovery. A mutual love for synthesis and electronic minimalism set the foundation for Wet Dream’s ethereal industrial sound. Their shared desire to revisit the past while simultaneously pushing into new sonic territory is the catalyst behind their stunning debut “Future Nostalgic”. A product of both cutting edge technology and sonic nostalgia, the Portland based artists strive to connect to the artificial as a way to synthesize our own fading humanity.
