April Tarot Forecast: Elements

BARBARI Mindfulness, Tarot, Thoughts

This post definitely comes at a special time. It’s the first reading I’ve done since moving into my beautiful apartment, amidst the chaos of COVID-19. As I prepare my space and spirit for reading, I ask the cards for some guidance I can hold throughout my reading and my day. I pull The Star and 7 of Wands. Messages of affirmation that I am doing exactly what I should be, of protection and sacred work, bring tears of gratitude and I’m reminded of my purpose.

THE DECK

For these tarot messages, I used the Next World Tarot. This deck was illustrated, written, and self-published by Christy C. Road, a Cuban artist from Miami, FL. The illustrations are set in a post-apocalyptic world which feels appropriate given our current state. The deck details themes of justice, resilience, accountability, and reclaimed magic. The interpretations and illustrations are anti-capitalist, anti-hierarchical, and non-gendered. This deck really beautifully illustrates how Black, brown, dis/abled, fat, queer, Trans, and gender-nonconforming folx move through and create a more compassionate, radical world.

THE SPREAD

For this month’s tarot forecast, I’m pulling one card for each element: Earth, Air, Water, and Fire. Read the element that corresponds to your sun sign, and rising sign if you feel called to. Below is the element that corresponds to your sun sign. To find out your natal chart information, CafeAstrology has a pretty comprehensive chart interpretation.

Each card interpretation also lists the numerological energy of the card and ways to channel the energy of the card. For cards that are double digits, you add to get a single digit. For example, card #13 has #4 vibrations (1+3=4).

THE ELEMENTS

EARTH:
Capricorn, Virgo, Taurus

AIR:
Libra, Aquarius, Gemini,

WATER:
Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

FIRE:
Aries, Leo, Sagitarrius

Hold onto that which resonates. Share this with those who come to mind as you read this.

Be well as you move forward into this brave new way of existence and healing work for yourselves and your community.

EARTH

3 of Pentacles

“The Team”

#3 Vibrations:
creativity, dynamism, production, manifestation, expression, growth, abundance

Time to get to work. Do you have a plan? We are at the beginning of a new way of existence. The ways in which our lives are being shaped is monumental. We’re creating something huge. A time where we’re redefining and cultivating agency. The team on this card is a collective of revolutionary minds. They create safety outside of oppressive systems. Do you know who’s on your organizing/activist team? Who’s occupying what roles? Are you looking at the ways you’re taking and/or redistributing power? This team knows that it needs to regroup to avoid burnout. The way we spend our time has been radically altered. How can you tap into the skills, knowledge, and resources you have/have access to? There is power in collaboration and honoring your collective’s feedback. We hold the knowledge and answers passed down to us by our honorable Ancestors. They remind us another world has been possible before, just as the Next World does.

AIR

Temperance

Keywords:
balance, moderation, patience

#14 (#5) Vibrations:
a turning point, struggle, conflict

As we are adjusting and shifting our daily life and physical activities you may be feeling stagnant. Temperance asks you to find a balance in your daily schedule. It encourages you to find creative ways of varying your daily life so that you don’t feel stuck. What’s your golden mean? This card comes after the Death card. A rebirth. A reconfiguring. Are you going to stay stuck or figure out how to best go from here? This point is crucial in moving forward. How will you make the most of it for the sake of your wellbeing? The being on the card has angel wings, pointing to her connection to air. However, it is land and water that are emphasized in this card. Temperance is grounded and recognizes feelings that arise but doesn’t dwell in them. She learned balance and patience and manifests their truest self without outside influence. Letting go of the ego becomes the most vital path to joy. Like Temperance, fully and wholly love yourself. Forgive yourself with every break, try with every new morning.

WATER

3 of Wands

“Foresight”

#3 Vibrations:
creativity, dynamism, production, manifestation, expression, growth, abundance

Let the energy of this card stir you up, get you hot. How can you be of assistance to yourself and your community? Tap into your intuition. How can you use this to formulate your care plan? What knowledge do you have access to? On this card, we see someone looking into the distance, almost in a meditative state, holding two books, their library serving as the background. There is a special key he wears as a necklace and a ribbon/medal. The person on this card knows change is the only constant. Expansion, knowledge, and growth keep his energy vibrant. He knows age and experience don’t always qualify for wisdom. He holds what is close and true to him tight. He knows this is what will propel him forward. This card asks you to stay hard at work. We are the masters of our own wellbeing. To thrive, we have to seek knowledge that’ll pull us to greatness. Look beyond what’s being offered. Take inspiration from your expansive waters. Study the possibilities beyond your familiar world. Tap into the visionary power that lies within.

FIRE

4 of Pentacles

“Arsenal”

#4 Vibrations:
stability, order, boundaries, foundation, planning, organization

Where’s your sanctuary? Your utopic creation space? Now’s the time to create and/or refresh this area. On this card we see someone making music, surrounded by equipment. The space is comfortable and lived in. Plants on the card represent life, vibrance, and remind us of our connection to the earth. As you shift your focus and tap into productive creativity, take stock of the tools you have access to. How can they work for you? How can you manipulate and/or reappropriate them? Home is where your soul breathes. Where traditional acts of sharing evade notions of greed. It’s where your roots lie, where your tools hide. This card asks you to cultivate that space as best as you can so that you can be grounded when engaging in productive creativity. The person on this card holds onto this knowledge like a hawk, overlooking progress, holding onto ancient wisdom passed down by family and spirit guides. They learned to nurture their roots, ancient wisdom, and tools while simultaneously embracing knowledge and progress that come with existence. Is your home a sanctuary or suffocation? Question home and trust what you rely on.

Too often, we see healing services or mediums that adhere to rigid binaries. Leo Abbott is a nonbinary Caribbean bruja whose interpretations come from a trauma-informed, queer, Caribbean Latinx, anticapitalist, non-Eurocentric perspective, weaving in astrology and numerology. Much of our struggles and hardships come from oppressive hegemonic systems/energies. Their work aims to heal the effects of these energies, all while uplifting and empowering those who are most marginalized in our communities.
